Updates- October 21, 2010

(Shelli)Updates....things seem to change fast. Wedsnesday was an exceptionally challenging day . An 18mm lump was found on my chest wall and I have a surgery consult for it on Monday. I also received a blood transfusion on Tuesday and met with my MD team re:my lab work, concerns etc....it feels like one thing after another, after another....rather overwhelming and VERY frustrating. Alone time to think was helpful, as were strong, loving words from Friends. I am trying to learn not to withdraw but to allow others to assist me in my moments of "madness" but I daresay, this is not easy. Thanks for the help Team! The comments, texts, calls were great reminders I am truly not in this alone.

I received an intensely peaceful and comforting priesthood blessing last night where it indicated there was a predetermined purpose for this trial and it would benefit many....also that I would be comforted and physically supported, and though I felt alone, I was not and to remember this. I was also informed I would be healed (big sigh of relief here) but had to do my part to allow for that. A wave of utter gratitude hit me recognizing a loving Heavenly Father had addressed the weighted burdens I carried. I now feel lighter and more like myself again (a smile here). There was also a sense of being blessed and validated for my obedience recently.... Got to love the Gospel of Jesus Christ!!! May you all be well.

(shawna) Thanks for sharing this experience with us Shelli! There is no other comfort that I've experienced in my life that compensates for the confirming power of the Holy Ghost and the Love of our Savior and Heavenly Father. October 21, 2010 at 2:31pm

Hello Healing Team

(Shelli)Hello Healing Team. Thought this could be another form of communication for us as we all are on FB. My brother created one of these when he battled his kudzu and it was rather helpful. Only the Healing Team has access to this group. My dear sister, Amy Miller, will be following this and is on the side line as an enthusiastic cheerleader as she resides in Dallas. A substitute has been added to the team, Deon Spilker. To my utter surprise, promptings of the spirit brought her to the awareness of my dilemna (Deon is RS Pres in my ward and very in tune...) Shawna had a similiar experience when she was at the Calgary Temple a couple of weeks ago....so apparently, I am in the Lord's diligent hands being cared for by you, incredible, compassionate women.

First off, Thank You for your willingness to help. I am slowly learning a lot about accepting help from others...and I'll admit and Tiffany can attest to it, that it makes me uncomfortable and grouchy. However, it is a process of cognizant learning that I will have to grasp. Just be patient with me....I am becoming more and more aware that my small bowel is really really sick and therefore, I'm kind of sick too :).

This week will be challenging. I have extra Doctor appointments, blood work and a combined day of C and R the morning of Thurs. Good news is, it is my easy week with little work. We will get through it together.

Lastly, Code words-Kudzu (cancer), C (chemo), R (Radiation), Kohaw (Emergent physical problem) and Booya (Urgent emotional issue). These seem to be easier to use for me.

(Shawna) Thanks for including me in the healing group. It's an honor to be able to help serve in some capacity with all of you our sweet friend Shelli. October 18, 2010 at 2:56pm
(Amy) So happy to have this forum and to be able to get updates in any form. Lots of love and prayers comin your way. October 18, 2010 at 5:07pm
(Shawna) Shelli survived R, blood and medication infusions. We had a "fun" girls day, with Shelli on my couch, girl chat and "beauty shop". .October 19, 2010 at 4:39pm
